Greetings! My name is Jose Bosque, the proud owner of Coastal Dog Training. I am a husband, father, grandfather, and grand-dog father to our family, all who reside within southwest Florida close to our home. I am passionate about being able to share my experience, skills, and understanding of high-level canine training for both personal and professional needs.  

 

My Background

Shortly after graduating high school, I joined the United States Marine Corps. After serving our country, I began establishing my career within the Lakeland Police Department in 1985 in Lakeland, Florida. In 1989, I joined the department’s K-9 unit as a K-9 handler and served as the department’s K-9 trainer from 1995 until my retirement in 2013.

Serving a total of 28 years as an officer with 24 years as a K-9 handler/trainer. I worked five canines trained in patrol and narcotics and successfully trained the Lakeland Police Department’s first explosive detector canine, for a total of six canine partners during my career.

My canines and I received various awards and certifications from my department and several professional Police Canine Associations over the years. I continue to enjoy utilizing my skills and I am still actively involved in training and conducting seminars throughout the United States. 

While having police canines as a part of our family, we also enjoyed the companionship of recreational canines (household pets) and provided appropriate training for both.  I have experience in owning and training a variety of breeds, temperaments, and personalities.

 

Establishing Coastal Canines and Putting Experience to Use

While finding success during my career, I have come to find that my biggest achievement was being given the opportunity to train, inspire, and motivate fellow canine owners. Building a strong and successful connection between an owner and their beloved canine companion requires positive reinforcements, dedication, time, and energy. The reward thereafter is fulfilling.

I remain passionate about canine training and express the desire to share my talents with those who are seeking such services… Thus, the reason for establishing Coastal Canines Training, LLC, where we offer professional training services for professional and personal needs!
